Florida solar rules to verify
2026 Federal Credit Update
The residential Section 25D credit ended for new expenditures after December 31, 2025. Our 2026 estimate does not subtract a federal credit.
0% assumed for new 2026 projects
Property Tax Exemption
Florida generally excludes qualifying residential renewable-energy devices from the assessed-value increase attributable to the installation.
Verify eligibility with your county property appraiser
Export Credit Rules
Your utility tariff determines whether and how exported solar energy is credited against electricity drawn from the grid.
Verify the current tariff and interconnection terms
Solar value depends on your roof, consumption, equipment, installed price, utility tariff, export-credit rules, and financing. Use the estimate as a starting point and verify each assumption in a written proposal.
Frequently asked questions
How accurate is this solar savings calculator?
When satellite data is available, the calculator uses Google's Solar API to analyze roof size, orientation, shading, and local weather. The result is a planning estimate; a written proposal must verify site conditions, usage, equipment, utility rules, and price.
Is there a federal residential solar tax credit in 2026?
For new residential clean-energy expenditures after December 31, 2025, the Section 25D credit is no longer available. This calculator therefore applies a 0% federal residential credit to new 2026 projects. Ask a tax professional about an older eligible project or unused carryforward.
What happens on cloudy days or at night?
Production falls with cloud cover and stops at night. Grid-connected homes then use grid energy unless compatible storage supplies selected loads. Export-credit rules vary by utility and tariff; the annual model includes a weather-adjusted production estimate.
Do I need a new roof before going solar?
Age alone does not decide it. Review material, condition, leaks, deck, remaining life, warranties, and the cost of later panel removal. UnionGrid can coordinate the scopes; project documents should identify the licensed contractor responsible for each roof and electrical task.
What solar financing options are available?
Cash, loans, and leases can have very different total costs and ownership terms. Compare the cash price, APR, lender fees, payment schedule, equipment ownership, warranties, and transfer terms before choosing. Availability and approval vary.
